11 Days Kenya budget holiday- A Special Birding Safari

Day 1

You will be met at the airport by our driver cum tour guide and transfer to hotel for an overnight stay. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Boulevard or similar.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, depart for a scenic drive to Lake Naivasha. Stop enroute at the Great Rift Valley for the stunning views. Arrive at Lake Naivasha by lunchtime. Lake Naivasha is home to an incredible variety of bird species. Over 400 species have been recorded here. Afternoon can be spent by going for a bird walk around the lake. Dinner and overnight at Naivasha.

Day 3

After a buffet breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, a bird and rhino sanctuary and a World Heritage Site. The park is famous for its millions of pink flamingoes. Arrive by lunchtime. Lunch and afternoon game drive follows. A late afternoon game drive will allow you to see the many wild animals in the park. You will also be taken to a cliff view point overlooking the lake. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar.

Day 4

Full day at Lake Nakuru National Park. Early morning game drive. Relax by the pool after having a leisurely breakfast. Lunch and afternoon game drive follows. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar.

Day 5

After breakfast, leave for the Aberdare Country Club, in the highland region of Kenya. Aberdare has hundreds of species of birds. Arrive in time for lunch at the club, which was built by British settlers during the colonial era. Afternoon spent going for bird walks. Dinner and overnight at Aberdare Country Club or similar.

Day 6

Enjoy your buffet breakfast before leaving for the luxurious and exclusive Mount Kenya Safari Club. This club was founded by Hollywood star William Holden. Enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kenya. After breakfast, you may relax by playing golf, swimming, horse riding or fishing. The club has excellent gardens. Enjoy a formal English dinner at the club. Overnight at Mount Kenya Safari Club or similar.

Day 7

After a buffet breakfast, depart for the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Maasai Mara is also known for its variety of bird species. Arrive at Mara in time for a splendid buffet lunch. Afternoon game drive will allow you to see the variety of wildlife and birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Mpata Safari Club or similar.

Day 8

Full day at the mara. Depart for an early morning game drive and return back to the lodge for breakfast. Rest of the morning at leisure, relaxing by the pool. A guided nature walk can also be arranged. Lunch and afternoon game drive follows. Dinner and overnight at Mpata Safari Club or similar.

Day 9

After a buffet breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park set at the foot of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro. The park has a prolific population of elephants. Other animals likely to be seen here are buffalo, lion, gazelle, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, jackal, Maasai giraffe and zebra. Arrive by lunchtime. Afternoon game drive follows after lunch. Dinner and overnight at Tortilis Camp or similar.

Day 10

Full day at Amboseli National Park. Morning and afternoon game drives. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Tortilis Camp or similar.

Day 11

After a leisurely buffet breakfast, depart for Nairobi. Arrive by lunchtime. Complimentary lunch at Carnivore Restaurant, one of Africa's most famous restaurant. Late afternoon transfer to the airport for flight home.

9 Days Mara – Naivasha – Nakuru – Bogoria – Treetops – Samburu – Nairobi- A Bird Watching Kenya Safari.

Day 1: Nairobi- Maasai Mara

Leave Nairobi for Masaai Mara game reserve where you lunch at Keekorok lodge. After Lunch spend the afternoon viewing bird life which includes red winged scholars Turaco, Orange – buff pel's fishing owl and flocks of wary crested guinea fowl Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Maasai Mara

Full day bird watching where on the open plains there is a verity of bustards including the large Jackson's bustard along side the more than 53 different species already discovered, both over the grasslands and in the sky. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge or Similar.

Day 3: Maasai Mara- Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, leave for lake Naivasha which is a bird watcher's paradise, water birds exist in great variety and abundance: fish eagles, ospreys are residents herons, egrets, red knobbed coots, black cracks are common African marsh harrlers and the three migrant harriers are often seen sailing just above the reed bed's hunting the little tree frogs which form the bulk of the diet. Some 13 km south of lake Naivasha are the towering cliffs of the hell's gate gorge, with their resident verreaux's eagles, colonies of ruppel's vultures and other notable birds .Dinner and overnight at Naivasha Sopa Or Similar.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha- Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, discover the rich bird filled gardens or an optional boat ride to the crescent island, then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch to view the world's famous habitat of flamingos. The landscape is scenic of the sedge, marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs, and outcrops, stretches of yellow backed acacia woodland and on the eastern perimeter rocky hillsides covered with forest of grotesque looking euphorbia trees all set against a background of hilly broken country. There is a great variety of other water birds including the ducks, the cape pigeon which loves blackish waters, plovers, birds of prey includes, lanner, long crested eagle, augur buzzard and variety sunbirds. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Similar

Day 5: Lake Nakuru– Lake Baringo

After breakfast drive to Lake Baringo one of the two fresh water lakes along the Great Rift Valley. Lake Baringo possesses two major ornithological attractions these are goliath herons and verreaux's eagle and the hornbill. Birds generally are abundant in the acacia woodland, which include curly crested helmet shrikes, silverbird, weaver and west Nile red bishop. In the afternoon have an hour- bird watching trip by boat to he Crescent Island and to view hippos too. At the island you can take excursions at an extra cost like a visit to the Njemps village and dancing or to the local snake farm. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Baringo Lodge or Similar

Day 6: Lake Baringo– Lake Bogoria –Treetops

After breakfast visit lake Bogoria which is a reign of great scenic beauty to the east steep hills descend abruptly to lake shore, whilst along the western shores, which are filter a series of spectacular hot springs. It has an abundance of large concentration of lesser and greater flamingos which often frequent the lake, black necked grebe, fish eagle- spur winged plover to mention a few. Leave for Treetops via Thompson falls to arrive at Outspan hotel( the base for treetops) in time for lunch. The famous Treetops hotel is situated in a salient of the Aberdare national park. Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel or similar. (Game viewing from your room's balcony where a swampy glade, waterhole and saltlick is the most likely place in Kenya from which to see bongo these large and handsome forest antelopes being frequent visitors.)

Day 7: Treetops –Samburu

After breakfast leave for Samburu to arrive in time for lunch. Bird life is numerous and colorful. There is no difficulty in seeing well over a hundred species of birds in a single day. Perhaps the most impressive sight is the immense flocks of helmeted and vulturine guinea-fowls which make their way each afternoon to the riverbank to drink, the latter resplent with white-streaked neck and brilliant blue under parts. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Lodge or Similar.

Day 8: Samburu

Pre breakfast, bird watching and game drive is done full day with view of the Maasai ostrich, buffalo springs, in the reserve of that name is the drinking place in the dry season for literally thousands of sand grouse and doves in addition to a galaxy of smaller birds the tiny pygmy falcon is common, the males blue grey and white the females with mahogany brown mantle. At a distance when perched, high in some acacia tree, the martial eagles is often seen usually perched high on some vantage point watchful for dik –dik or guinea fowl. Dinner and overnight at Samburu lodge or similar.

Day 9: Samburu –Nairobi

After breakfast, have a game drive enroute to Nairobi to arrive in the early afternoon for lunch at Nairobi Safari Club or similar
